Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is widely used to study many biological processes including biofuel production. Here, we present a rapid transformation technique for cell-walled Chlamydomonas strains without cell-wall removal using a square electric pulses-generating electroporator. This method could be applied to transformation of other industrially useful algae by optimizing the electric conditions. (C) 2013, The Society for Biotechnology, japan. All rights reserved.
