An extensive study of magnetic and dielectric properties has been carried out on the series of cerium substituted lithium ferrite Li0.5CexFe2.5-xO4 (x = 0.0-0.10 in step of 0.02) prepared by solid-state reaction technique. Phase analysis, microstructure and magnetic properties were studied by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), respectively. Saturation magnetization value (M-s) decreases with substitution of cerium in lithium ferrite but the real part of dielectric constant value 3.4 x 10(4) obtained is maximum for the molar concentration Ce = 0.06 in Li0.5CexFe2.5-xO4. Resistivity of all samples is in the range 10(6)-10(7) Omega CM measured by two-probe technique. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
