The thermal expansion of Ni-W, Ni-Cr, and Ni-Cr-W alloys has been measured by quartz dilatometry for the 20 A degrees C to 800 A degrees C temperature range. It is found that substitution of nickel by tungsten leads to a considerable decrease of the thermal expansion coefficient (TEC), while chromium has only a small influence on the TEC of the alloy.
