The steady laminar magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) thermosolutal Marangoni convection in the presence of a uniform applied magnetic field is considered in the boundary layer approximation. It is assumed that the surface tension varies linearly with both the temperature and concentration and that the interface temperature and concentration are quadratic functions of the interface arc length x. Exact analytical solutions for the velocity, temperature and concentration boundary layers are reported. The heat and mass transfer characteristics of the flow as functions of the physical parameters of the problem are discussed in detail. (C) 2007 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
