In this article, the taxonomical status of medicinal mushrooms containing taxa representative of Polyporaceae is considered. The results of this study confirmed the genus Ganoderma as a member of the family Polyporaceae. The heterogeneity of the genus Polyporus is also considered. Current literature examination has shown that three more natural genera can be found within the genus Polyporus. Seven new combinations are proposed for the genera Lentinus and Polyporus.
