In this article, we consider the problem of optimal coverage of unknown environmental boundary using sensor networks. Since the boundary is unknown to all sensors, it is necessary for the sensors to find it first. We give a new distributed estimate policy by tracking a virtual agent using the sensor networks. Then we consider the problem of optimal coverage of the estimate boundary instead of the actual one. Moreover, an algorithm is given to deploy the sensors to the optimal configuration corresponding to the coverage problem considered in this article.
