Steady and unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) computations are commonly performed for active flow control applications. This article reviews several recent results, and describes both numerics and physics-related issues. Specific turbulence modelling needs are pointed out that must be addressed in order for RANS to remain competitive with eddy-resolving simulations for flow control applications in the future.
