For non-dimensional pressure gradients sufficiently low and Reynolds numbers sufficiently high for the constant shear stress approximation to be valid at the first node of a turbulent wall layer computation, relationships for entropy generation rates are applied to popular wall 'laws'. The resulting observations lead to a simple approach for evaluating the entropy generation rate per unit area in a computational fluid dynamics calculation for situations which satisfy this approximation.
