Various beta-aminoalcohols were prepared by the ring opening reaction of epoxides with aromatic amines in the presence of Fe(III) substituted Wells-Dawson type polyoxometalate, alpha(2)-[(n-C4H9)(4)N](7)P2W17FeO61 center dot 3H(2)O, as an efficient catalyst. The reaction was performed under neutral condition at room temperature and afforded the corresponding products in high to excellent yields. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
