A novel coordination polymer, {[Eu(2)(L)(3)(CH(3)OH)(H(2)O)]center dot(CH(3)OH)(H(2)O)}(n) (1), has been synthesized by solvothermal reaction of Eu( NO(3))(3)center dot 6H(2)O and 9,9-diethylfluorene-2,7-dicarboxylic acid in a mixture solution of CH(3)OH and H(2)O. Single crystal X-ray structural analysis reveals that complex 1 crystallizes in an orthorhombic, space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), holding the unusual (2,3,8)-connected 3D topological network. Thermogravimetric analysis shows remarkable thermal stability of the structural framework of compound 1, the photoluminescence properties are also discussed. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V.
