A novel 2D coordination polymer, formulated as [Cd-2(Hpimdc)(2)(bpp)(H2O)](n) (bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane, H(3)pimdc=2-propyl-4,5-imidazoledicarboxylate), has been hydro-thermally synthesized and structurally characterized, which shows unusual multifarious helical structures and (3,4)-connected network with (4.8(2))(2)(4(2).8(3).10) topology. The photoluminescent property and thermal stability of 1 were also discussed. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
