A novel cadmium(II)/Htda coordination polymer [K2Cd(Htda)(2)](n) (1) (Htda = 1,2,3-triazole-4,5-dicarboxylate) was prepared through solvothermal methods and structurally characterized. An X-ray analysis reveals that I consists of an unusual 3D (4,4,6)-connected net-2 work with a (4(2)6(4))(Cd)(4(2)6(3)8)(K)(4(3)6(10)8(2)) Htda topology constructed from [Cd(Htda)(2)](n)(2n-) anionic chains and K+ ions via a series of K-O bonding interactions. The luminescent properties of 1 along with the H(3)tda ligand in the solid state were investigated. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
