A dodecanuclear copper(II) globular-shaped structure has been obtained with the cytidine nucleoside and the templating carbonate anion. It shows receptor properties through anion-cation and multiple anion-pi interactions toward ClO4- as well as an overall antiferromagnetic coupling.
