This article, the second in a series of four to review recent developments equine dentistry, describes the common dental and oral lesions that may be seen during a routine dental examination in horses, the procedure for which was published in the January issue of In Practice (volume 34, pages 2 to 10). Part 3, to be published in the March issue, will consider how these lesions may be investigated further using appropriate imaging techniques, while Part 4, to be published in the April issue, will consider the techniques available for the prevention and treatment of equine dental disease.
