This paper studies the design problem of observer-based event-triggered control for certain and uncertain linear systems. For linear systems, an event condition based on the state error of the observer is proposed. A condition in terms of a linear matrix inequality is provided to ensure the feedback control system as well as the observer error system asymptotic stability under the event-triggered control. Moreover, corresponding self-triggered control is presented where the next control task release time is predicted based on the current sampled data. Furthermore, observer-based event-triggered control for the system with norm-bounded uncertainty is investigated. Finally, simulations are shown to illustrate the feasibility and efficiency of the obtained results.
