Silver/titania (Ag/TiO2) mesoporous composites were successfully synthesized by a mild condition of microemulsion-assisted hydrothermal method. It was clearly showed that a HRTEM investigation with the X-ray curves of the composites proved the successfully fabrication of the Ag/TiO2 composites. Moreover, the increase of Ag content inhibited the growth of rutile titania. The characteristic mesoporous materials owned the identical isotherms of type IV with H-2 hysteresis loop. The mesoporous composites had a remarkably improved infrared radiation performance after the introduction of Ag. The infrared emissivity values of the composites were continuously decreased with the increase of the Ag content and down to 0.593. Two factors (Ag component and mesopore structure) play important role in the enhanced infrared radiation performance of the Ag/TiO2 mesoporous composites. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
