In this paper, we report on tailoring of thin glass-coated microwires with enhanced magnetic softness. We systematically studied the GMI effect (GMI ratio, Delta Z/Z, and the off-diagonal impedance tensor C-phi z(H-ex)) and hysteretic magnetic properties in ultra-thin amorphous glass-coated microwires; with nearly-zero and negative magnetostriction constant and metallic nucleus diameter ranging within 6 and 16 mu m.
