A novel topology for the composite right/left-handed transmission line (CRLH TL) is presented. This type of CRLH TLs has the advantage of exhibiting an all-pass behavior and a frequency-independent characteristic impedance, in the so-called balanced case. Moreover, it presents a larger group velocity than its conventional counterpart, thereby allowing for wider bandwidth operation. This letter investigates the fundamental properties of this structure, and demonstrates them by full-wave simulation and measurement results on a practical implementation in parallel stripline technology.
