The application of technologies for renewable energy sources is tied to the development of Smart Grids. In this paper, a model for coupling an electric vehicle and a smart home is presented. The model encompasses a photovoltaic energy generation system, an electric model of the battery system and the Vehicle-to-Home and Home-to-Vehicle operations. The proposed model objective is to minimize the costs while maximizing the vehicle efficiency, considering four different simulation scenarios of home energy consumption and vehicle recharge. The results are analysed considering billing data from an energy distribution company. The results show an energy consumption reduction during high demand periods by using Vehicle-to-Home technology, in addition to an important energy bill reduction.
