Highly functionalized derivatives of (7-)-4-amino-5-(hydroxyimino)2,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole 3-oxide were first and conveniently synthesized by the reactions of 3,4-diaminoglyoxime with benzaldehyde derivatives in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid. The procedure represents an effective method to obtain a new kind of nitrones.
