Under mild microwave irradiation conditions and without any additional organic solvents, a large variety of nitrones were prepared in a weak Lewis base phosphinite task-specific ionic liquid (TSIL-OPPh(2)) in excellent yields. This catalytic TSIL was also recyclable. Under optimized microwave irradiation conditions, the reaction occurred at very shorter reaction time and higher yields in comparison with conventional heating conditions.
