Poster summary

Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) represent a relatively recent advancement in carbon nanomaterials, characterized by a sp2/sp3 conjugated core adorned with abundant functional groups such as aldehyde, hydroxyl, and carboxyl. These particles typically exhibit a quasi-spherical shape and are typically smaller than 10 nm. CQDs possess exceptional compactness compared to other carbon materials, resulting in uniform dispersion, improved electron transfer/reservoir capabilities, and a unique structure. In the context of next-generation energy storage applications, CQDs hold significant promise as electrode materials. This study aims to explore the potential of CQDs derived from locally sourced spent coffee grounds as electrode materials to enhance the performance of flexible electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs). Our objectives include characterizing the synthesized CQDs, optimizing the fabrication process, and evaluating the electrochemical performance of the fabricated EDLCs.
