Ecology is the flagship publication in the field of international ecology, with an annual publication of usually only over 200 articles. It particularly focuses on fundamental scientific issues in ecology, especially those related to community and ecosystem ecology, and has high requirements for the novelty, theoretical depth, reliability of data analysis, and logical writing of articles. In China, Ecology is often regarded as a benchmark for selecting outstanding and excellent young researchers. Experts often compare Journal of Ecology and Ecology, and in terms of their founding history, Journal of Ecology was actually established earlier. However, in general, it is more difficult to submit articles to Ecology than to Journal of Ecology. Sometimes, if one has a good dataset, completes popular data analysis, and tests a hypothesis, they may be able to publish in Journal of Ecology.
