Normal, this journal can have these two states. I guess "editor assigned" is assigned to the responsible editor. After the responsible editor makes a decision, it becomes "editor invited" for other editors to handle. However, I only submitted one article, so I don't know if rejection is also in this state. The longest I have been in the "editor invited" state is 50 days, but that was during a round of revisions. Other journals usually start with "with editor" and then change to "under review". Finally, if you are short on time, I suggest submitting to MDPI to ensure graduation. This journal has likely received a large number of submissions in the past two years, causing the editorial team to be understaffed and resulting in slow processing.

Maybe it's because of inviting the executive editor to handle it. Every time I return for revisions, it is initially assigned to an editor and then changed to editor invited before being reviewed. However, every email, including the final acceptance email, is sent by the chief editor LUC, so I suspect that the executive editor is responsible for handling the subsequent content after it is passed on.
