Aims and Scope
The journal’s scope ranges from mathematical foundations of the field to algorithm and software development, and from benchmark examples to case studies of practical applications in structural, aero-space, mechanical, civil, chemical, naval and bio-engineering.
Fields such as computer-aided design and manufacturing, uncertainty quantification, artificial intelligence, system identification and modeling, inverse processes, computer simulation, bio-mechanics, bio-medical applications, nano-technology, MEMS, optics, chemical processes, computational biology, meta-modeling, DOE and active control of structures are covered when the topic is closely related to the optimization of structures or fluids.
Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization publishes original research papers, review articles, industrial applications, brief notes, educational articles, book reviews, conference diary, forum section, discussions on papers, authors´ replies, obituaries, announcements and society news.

Both revisions were major revisions.
In the first major revision, two reviewers provided over ten comments.
In the second major revision, based on the comments, the first reviewer suggested acceptance, while the second reviewer suggested rejection (the rejection comments mentioned that my previous response did not adequately address their questions and included one unconvincing result, which made me cry......). The editor was excellent and sought a third (new) reviewer, who suggested minor revisions based on the comments. In this major revision, I provided a detailed response to the second reviewer's comments (addressing one question in two pages) and included a new case study to demonstrate the validity of the results.
In the third revision, the paper was accepted, but some formatting adjustments were required (according to the editor's comments, I used too many custom abbreviations in the article, which affected readability).
In conclusion, I appreciate the opportunity given by the editor and wish SMO (the journal or organization) continued success.
