Aims and Scope
Environmental changes of many kinds are accelerating worldwide, posing significant challenges for humanity. Solutions are needed at the regional level, where physical features of the landscape, biological systems, and human institutions interact.

The goal of Regional Environmental Change is to publish scientific research and opinion papers that improve our understanding of the extent of these changes, their causes, their impacts on people, and the options for society to respond. "Regional" refers to the full range of scales between local and global, including regions defined by natural criteria, such as watersheds and ecosystems, and those defined by human activities, such as urban areas and their hinterlands.

We encourage submissions on interdisciplinary research across the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, and on more focused studies that contribute towards the solutions to complex environmental problems. Topics addressed include (i) the regional manifestations of global change, especially the vulnerability of regions and sectors; (ii) the adaptation of social-ecological systems to environmental change in the context of sustainable development; and (iii) trans-boundary and cross-jurisdictional issues, legislative and governance frameworks, and the broad range of policy and management issues associated with building, maintaining and restoring robust social-ecological systems at regional scales.

The primary format of contributions are research articles, presenting new evidence from analyses of empirical data or else more theoretical investigations of regional environmental change. In addition to research articles, we also publish editorials, short communications, invited mini-reviews on topics of strong current interest, as well as special features that provide multifaceted discussion of complex topics or particular regions

From submission to acceptance took more than 4 months, and the first review took over 2 months, which is considered relatively fast. There was one major revision and two minor revisions. The experience of submitting this time is similar to Hydrological Processes, which is also managed by Germans. There were two external reviewers for the first review, and the editor acted as a reviewer as well. After the major revision in the first review, all three experts approved it. However, another editor emerged and said that the abstract language was vague, and some other issues were raised. After the minor revision, there was a small problem in the abstract that was not changed because it was modified according to the suggestions of the external reviewers. After the minor revision was submitted, the editor requested another minor revision. Each minor revision took around 20 days to return. Personally, I feel that this experience has the following characteristics: 1. Very rigorous and serious. 2. There seems to be multiple editors, and it seems that after each minor revision, all editors must agree and accept it without any issues; otherwise, further revisions will be required. 3. Publishing issues are also addressed during the review process. This journal is highly recognized within the industry, steadily developing, and without any controversies. It has great prospects, and I have high expectations for this journal.

Posted in December 2019, accepted in January of this year, it took about 3 months from the first submission to receiving revision comments. There was one major revision and four minor revisions. The major revision took 2 months, while the minor revisions were completed in just a few days. However, the editor took an average of 1 month to handle each revision. The speed is up to each individual. Both the editor and the peer reviewers were very good, and the quality of the article improved significantly after revisions. The German journal is very rigorous, and it seems to have been promoted to the second tier of the Chinese Academy of Sciences this year. The chief editor has very high language requirements, and it took two rounds of editing by AJE to be accepted. I have read many journal reviews on LETPUB, which have been very helpful to me. I wanted to share my experience and wish everyone success in getting their work accepted!
