Aims and Scope
General Psychiatry (GPSYCH) is an open access journal that has been providing leading psychiatry research since 1959. The journal covers all topics of interest to psychiatrists and other mental health professionals internationally. GPSYCH publishes original research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, forums on topical issues, case reports, research methods in psychiatry, and a unique section on ‘Biostatistics in Psychiatry’. Original articles on basic research, clinical research, community-based studies, and ecological studies are all considered for publication.

General Psychiatry (English), originally named Shanghai Psychiatry, was founded in 1959. It is the first professional journal of psychiatry in China and the only English-language journal in the mainland specializing in psychiatric and neuroscientific research on brain diseases. It mainly publishes original research, new research methods, and case reports related to psychiatry and neuroscientific research on brain diseases. Its distinctive columns include biostatistical research on mental disorders, meta-analysis systematic reviews, special forums, and neuroscience research related to mental and psychological health.

Since collaborating with BMJ International Publishing Group in 2018, General Psychiatry has continued to develop and make progress, achieving outstanding results. The total citation count, impact factor, and international ranking of the journal have all shown an upward trend.

According to the 2021 SCOPUS citation report, General Psychiatry's CiteScore impact factor for 2020 was 4.5, ranking in the 74th percentile among similar journals. However, its latest CiteScore Tracker score for 2021 has made a remarkable leap, breaking the historical record by surpassing 10 and reaching 10.1.
