Aims and Scope

Lab Medicine is a peer-reviewed biomedical journal published quarterly by the ASCP and Oxford University Press. The journal invites submission of manuscripts on topics related to clinical chemistry and microbiology, hematology, immunology, transfusion medicine, molecular diagnostics, cytology, histology, and laboratory administration and management. Original research, reviews, and case reports are considered for publication. Lab Medicine is indexed (under the title Laboratory Medicine) by the National Library of Medicine and is included in the PubMed database.

I submitted an article on clinical microbiology testing in a medical laboratory for review. The review process was slow, and I had to send a reminder in between. I submitted the article in May, and it required major revisions in November. After receiving the revised manuscript in December, I didn't hear anything further. In March of the following year, it was directly accepted for publication. Although it is only indexed in the fourth quartile and has a low impact factor, there are not many journals in the field of medical laboratory testing, and my article had limited information. Therefore, I am satisfied with its acceptance.
