Description
CIHR's Gold Leaf Prize for Transformation recognizes that transformation is an essential element to building a strong Canadian health research enterprise. The focus area for 2018 is Patient Engagement. CIHR is looking for examples of extraordinary leadership within research that demonstrates an unwavering commitment to realizing collaborations with patients in order to advance patient-identified priorities and improve patient outcomes, ultimately leading to improved health outcomes and enhanced healthcare systems and practices.Note that patient is an overarching term that includes individuals with personal experience of a health issue and informal caregivers, including family and friends. Patient engagement is defined in the Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) Patient Engagement Framework as meaningful and active collaboration of patients in governance, priority setting, conducting research and knowledge translation. This can represent a major culture shift in the way research is done; effective patient engagement occurs throughout the research process and improves the relevance of the research and its translation into policy and practice. For additional information regarding how CIHR further defines patient engagement, please read the SPOR Patient Engagement Framework. Eligibility Nominations will be accepted from individuals, institutions, organizations and networks that have the ability to complete and submit the full nomination package by the deadline date. Nominations may be submitted for individuals or teams within the Canadian context. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
