I was not aware C. septicum produces other toxins besides alpha-toxin. Are the other toxins known to be causative agents for gas gangrene as well? Possibly playing a more minor role than alpha-toxin? Or known involved in the MAPK pathway in any sort of way?
An excellent detailed review. I was not aware some C. difficile strains can encode for a binary toxin. Evolutionary speaking, I wonder how that became so.
Love to see technology integrated into healthcare, whether it's through a web-based platform, or even integration of smart devices into clinical trials for better data collection and more robust data.
Amazing how microbial communities, even within specific regions of the body, can have such profound effects on health and the effectiveness of certain drugs. I wonder if such active ingredients/drugs could have another purpose, maybe in microbiomes with too high Lactobacillus spp? Not sure if this is common, or a negative thing.
If consistently used, I wonder how long it would take for predators to adapt and/or realize they should not be deterred by the markings. Also, as the authors pointed out, the size of the eyes would be an important factor to study as well, particularly if they were drawn to mimic natural enemies of large predators.
Amazing how CO2 emissions drastically dropped in response to the stay-at-home orders and all within such a short period of time. My individual contribution to CO2 emissions is something I have thought more and more about during this pandemic. I am actively working on reducing in light of these studies.
Sending text messages for future court appearances is a fantastic idea! It is very easy to forget about a court date, especially when they are months in advance. We are all super busy, and some of us are forgetful (such as me).
Very interesting article as it is important to consider other sources of transmission. I wonder why younger cats are more vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2 than older cats. I would think it should the other way around, due to the aging immune system.
